Flowers for Algernon is a deeply moving story about Charlie Gordon, a man whose journey of intellectual awakening and subsequent loss will stay with you long after you've turned the last page.

What makes this book one of my all-time favorites is how Daniel Keyes masterfully explores big philosophical ideas—self-worth, knowledge, and our place in society—without ever feeling overwhelming.

The arc of Charlie’s transformation is sad, insightful, inspiring, and profoundly human. No book has ever made me feel more connected to the complexities of what it means to be human. If you're looking for a story that’s as thought-provoking as it is emotionally resonant, this is it.

Unexpected reflection

This was a very moving story about a man who undergoes a scientific experiment that radically changes his life. Upon completion of the book I began to reflect on how I might have treated others in my past who were not perceived as gifted as myself. I believe the lesson from this book will stay with me for a long time.
